In 2021, when the second wave of Covid-19 severely affected large sections of the population in India, PPI stepped up to help many more partner NGOs and sent relief grants to 17 NGOs. These grants were largely utilized for emergency relief supplies (non-perishable food, as well as hygiene-related and other household items). Additionally, one NGO used the relief grant to provide an EKG machine to a hospital and another utilized the grant to provide seed to farmers for growing food crops.
In 2020 and in 2021, PPI also helped communities affected by cyclone damage in West Bengal.
In previous years, PPI’s disaster relief projects have included help for cyclone damage in West Bengal, flooding in Karnataka, and flooding in Tamil Nadu.
