Contact: Mr. C.S. Sajid Hussain

Dates: October 2025 – September 2026

Total Budget: Rs. 3,84,808 ($4,418)

This new project plans to identify 25 marginalized rural dalit women from Seetha Nagaram village in Khajipet Mandal, Kadapa District, Andhra Pradesh to be trained in goat rearing. In addition to the training, each of these women will receive three goats to get them started as well as receive the required support for goat rearing.

The intended benefit is the improved income and financial independence of these poor women. The indirect beneficiaries include 125 family members and 50 community members who will benefit from the availability of goat milk. To foster a feeling of responsibility, each identified beneficiary will contribute Rs.1,500 (10% of the cost) towards the purchase of the goats. The goats will be insured by SPREAWS for 1 year and training on insurance benefits, etc. will be provided to the beneficiaries. To make the project more sustainable, each beneficiary will be expected to provide a goat offspring back to SPREAWS to be passed on to other tribal women. The training of these additional women in goat rearing is expected to be done through locally raised funds.
