Tailoring Training for Poor Rural Women in Bihar

During this 1-year completed project, ASS has trained 180 poor rural women in tailoring skills, so that they can become self-employed after the training, which would improve their financial situation.

The training was provided in three training centers set up close to the villages of the women. Each 4-month training class was designed to provide skills to 20 women at a time. Thus, a total of 180 women were trained during this 1-year project.

A majority of the trained women have already started their own small businesses to make various cloth items, earning about Rs 2000 to Rs. 4000 per month. Efforts are also being taken to create Self Help Groups for the women and to link them with microfinance help.
