This is a new 3-year project, in which AGYVS is planning to provide vocational training to 300 tribal women (120 in tailoring and 180 in lac-bangle making) residing in 15 villages of West Champaran district in Bihar. In addition, support will be provided to improve the health of 300 tribal children through regular health check-ups and nutritional support.
During the first 8 months, three Vocational Training centers were established and equipped with six pedal sewing machines, sewing tool kits, and lac-making tools to help carry out the training. Tailoring training has been completed by 20 women, while 40 women have completed the training for lac-bangle making.
Entrepreneurship Development sessions were also conducted to help these women get oriented towards self-employment opportunities and exposure to the local markets.
As a complementary effort, nutritious food was provided to 50 malnourished children. Health check-ups of these children have shown visible improvement in their health.
