This is a new rural development project by GRAVIS focused on three villages in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan. Like several of our previous projects, it includes organizational development (village development committees and women’s self-help groups), water security (construction of taankas [drinking water storage tanks] and bio-sand water filters), and health improvement (training sessions for women, medical camps, and cultivation of arid horticulture units for improved nutrition).
Almost a year since the start of the project, works is progressing well in all these areas. GRAVIS reports, “The project has received very positive response from the local community. Women and girls, the key target group, are very enthusiastic about the project and about their roles.’’
