Sustainable Farming for Tribal Farmers

Dr. M.L. Dhawale Memorial Homeopathic Institute (MLDMHI); Thane, Maharashtra

Contact: Ms. Ujjwala Pendse

October 2016 – October 2018

Budget: Total, Rs.1,030,000; 2017, Rs.511,500

MLDMHI is applying the knowledge and experience they gained in a previous project to work with a new group of tribal farmers, about 30 so far.  They have provided the farmers with some basic farm implements, organic fertilizers, and seeds and saplings to get started, and they have conducted workshops and exposure visits for them on organic methods and multi-crop agriculture. The farmers were quite successful in growing vegetables and selling them profitably this spring, and MLDMHI has been initiating agreements with several new marketing partners.
