In 2025, PPI partnered with the Raah Foundation to launch the Nashik District Nursery Development Project under the broader ReGreen Nation initiative. Supported with ₹7,50,000 in 2025 (as part of a total three-year commitment of ₹22,50,000), the project aims to develop 27,000 saplings across three village nurseries—Belgaon Dhaga, Kone, and Mohimewadi—while strengthening women-led livelihoods and restoring degraded commons through native species propagation. Beginning in January 2025, Raah Foundation successfully established three fully functional nurseries, trained 11 women, completed land preparation and fencing, and initiated large-scale seed processing and germination activities.
Despite intense monsoon challenges that damaged the Kone and Mohimewadi nurseries, the project demonstrated strong resilience. Belgaon Dhaga served as the central nursery, enabling re-sowing and climate-adaptive practices such as raised beds, drainage improvements, and organic pest management. By the end of Q3, the nurseries achieved 70% germination, generated ₹60,000 of income for participating women, and stabilized operations for the 2026 transplanting phase. Overall, the project reflects Raah’s commitment to ecological restoration, climate resilience, and rural women’s livelihoods, while setting a solid foundation for long-term community-led afforestation.
